FAQs
My child is new to Sierra Verde. What's the procedure for testing for the SAGE program?
Students that are new to Sierra Verde can test for the SAGE program during any of the three testing cycle. Your first step is to complete the nomination and testing permission forms and return this paperwork to your child's general education teacher.
My child was in a gifted program at their previous school. How are they placed in the Sierra Verde SAGE program?
If your child was placed at their previous school using one of the state approved tests, your child's test scores will be evaluated to determine placement eligibility. If an alternative placement was used at your child's previous school, your child will be retested at Sierra Verde, during one of the three cycles, to determine eligibility for SAGE placement.
How do I know if my previous school used a state approved test for gifted placement?
Bring a copy of your child's scores on the previous school's letter head or district letter head and their results will be evaluated to determine eligibility for SAGE placement.
How many times a year can my child test?
Your child can test once every 12 months for SAGE placement. For instance, if your child tested during the Spring testing cycle, your child would be eligible to retest during the next year's Spring testing cycle.
I would like my child tested at Sierra Verde. What do I do now?
Contact your child's general education teacher for placement on the testing list for the next testing cycle. You will be contacted with a Parent Permission to Test and testing days and times. Most testing does take place before school in order to minimize lost instructional time.
