Graduated from St. Joseph College with a BA in Special Education and General Education

Received a Master's Degree in Early Education with an emphasis in reading from Northern Arizona University

Mrs. Thiebeau began teaching in the Deer Valley Unified School District in 1981.

She has taught K, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 7th, and 8th grade and adult education.  Currently, Mrs. Thiebeau is a campus reading specialist.

Hello!  My name is Anne Thiebeau and I am a reading specialist at Sierra Verde.  I am very excited to begin another year at Sierra Verde! 

I began teaching in the Deer Valley School district in 1981.  During my years of service in the district, I have taught Kindergarten, Transitional 1st, Multi-Age (grades 1st-3rd), 3rd grade, 7th grade, and 8th grade.  The 2024-2025 school year begins my 18th year at Sierra Verde and 20th year as a reading specialist.

I received my BA in Special Education and Elementary Education from St. Joseph College and my masters in Elementary Education with an emphasis in reading from Northern Arizona University.

I have a passion for reading and love the fact that I get to experience the joy of learning to read anew each year with the students I work with.

Dear Parents,

The Sierra Verde staff is making a commitment to reading!  All research identifies that increased reading is the single best way to improve a child’s reading.  With this in mind, we have selected our theme for the 2024-2025 “Read Across America Week”.   It is “Grow  Your Brain...READ!”.  Read Across America Week will be celebrated from February 24th - February 28  This event celebrates reading and honors one of the best loved children’s authors, Dr. Seuss.

Sierra Verde is not waiting until March to celebrate Dr. Seuss and his powerful message.  We are asking families and students  to read for 20 minutes every day. 

 

The 2024-2025 school year will also begin with a reading challenge for all Sierra Verde Vipers!  A Read-A-Thon will be held during the first quater.  Students will be taking pledges from friends and family as they commit to reading!  More information will follow in August!

The Book Room Needs Your Support!

 

 

Matching books to readers is an important part of developing competent readers.  Our goal is to have a large selection of different genres at all levels of reading.  This is a huge undertaking that began several years ago.  Our collection continues to grow!  

If you would like to support our efforts, you are invited to make a tax credit donation designating the book room as the recipient.  Those making donations up to $400.00 by April 15, 2025 will be eligible to receive the state tax credit in the amount of your donation. Pamphlets for donations may be picked up in the Sierra Verde office.

In previous years, the money donated and grant money received helped to add non-fiction text sets, persuasive text sets, and fiction text sets to our existing collection. It is also used to provide books for our K-3 students during Read Across America Week! As our new school year begins, teachers are excited to use the new materials and look forward to selecting books to give our students in the spring.  We are very thankful to all who donated funds to help us continue to grow our book collection!  Thank you!
