Hi, I'm Tamara Anderson, and I am thrilled to be your child's 5th-grade Science teacher. Teaching has always been my passion, and I am excited to embark on this educational journey with your child.
I was in first grade when I realized I wanted to be a teacher. School was my happy place. I would spend hours there playing school with my dolls and stuffed animals. I eagerly tutored my friends and volunteered to help my teachers whenever I could. However, it was my sixth-grade teacher, Mrs. May, who ignited my love for teaching. She gave me the incredible opportunity to work one-on-one with a classmate who had special needs. Mrs. May became my role model and inspired me to pursue a dual bachelor's degree in Elementary and Special Education.
I am proud to say that this year marks my 29th year teaching in the Deer Valley Unified School District. Throughout my career, I have taught students across various grade levels, from 1st to 6th grade. However, 5th grade has always held a special place in my heart. It is a grade where we get to explore the fascinating world of science together, and I can't wait to dive into our fun-filled year of scientific discovery!
When I'm not at school, I enjoy spending time with my family. I have been happily married to my husband Richard for nearly 27 years, and together we have three incredible children—two daughters and one son. Our oldest daughter lives and works in Mesa. She is an exceptionally creative and talented individual. Our younger daughter recently graduated from the University of Arizona, with a degree in business marketing. She has an incredible talent for photography and started her own photography business about four years ago, capturing beautiful family and senior portraits. Our son is starting his Senior year at Southern Utah University and is looking forward to a great year.
I couldn't be prouder of my children, and spending time with them brings me so much joy. They are the best! Their accomplishments and passions inspire me daily, reminding me of the importance of nurturing and supporting each child's unique talents and dreams.
I am dedicated to creating a positive and engaging learning environment for your child. I believe that education goes beyond textbooks and tests—it is about fostering curiosity, critical thinking, and a love for exploration. Together, we will embark on an exciting journey of scientific discovery.
Thank you for visiting my website, and I look forward to an incredible year ahead, filled with growth, learning, and unforgettable experiences!
