Student Council
Purpose:
The purpose of this organization shall be: to inspire school spirit; propose and institute student activities; maintain proper records; regulate request and dispersal of student activity funds within the control of Sierra Verde Student Council; and promote the general welfare of the school.
Mission Statement:
We, the students of Sierra Verde STEAM Academy, will engage as leaders to inspire school spirit, promote good citizenship, practice the principles of democracy and serve in a positive fashion as a liaison between students, faculty, and the community.
Sierra Verde Vision Statement:
Sierra Verde students will think critically, respond digitally, and communicate effectively.

* Classroom Senators must maintain acceptable academic standing. No "D's", "F's", "U's", or "N's" are acceptable.
* Officers must maintain a minimum of 3.0 grade point average. No "D's", "F's", "U's", or "N's" are acceptable.
* Officers and Classroom Senators must maintain appropriate behavior during their tenure in Student Council. No suspension on or off campus is allowed and no more than one behavior detention during the school year is permitted.
* Officers and Classroom Senators must be able to be in attendance of all regularly scheduled meetings and activities, faithfully represent their classroom and school in Student Council, and give an accurate report to their classrooms and other classrooms concerning Student Council meetings, proposals, and activities. Two or more unexcused absences from meetings and activities will be grounds for removal from Student Council.
The membership of this organization shall consist of 3rd through 8th grade students in good standing at Sierra Verde STEAM Academy.
Preparatory Chapter (Grades 6-8)
· Student Body Officers
· At least one classroom Senator from each homeroom grades 6-8
Elementary Chapter (Grades 3-5)
· At least one classroom Senator for each homeroom grades 3-5
Student Council meets every Friday from 7:45 - 8:30 am in the media center.
